When the rains stop, get on a bike!

After the worst off and on down pours of rain, Thursday finally presented itself with a sunny morning and drying streets. With this in mind (and about ten pounds I'm sure I've gained here), I decided to take a day and go bike riding.

 Unlike the quiet, serene trails that I could have chosen, I decided to test out my crazy Parisian street skills and take the road from Sevres to Versailles. Only about 5 miles to the Chateau/Palace (10 mi roundtrip)  but still very fun! A decent workout and okay views made it bearable. I successfully and safely navigated my way through traffic and over sidewalks to get to the palace which blew my mind. I haven't gone in yet (because I'm too cheap to pay 20 euros) but just seeing it up close and walking by the gleaming, golden gate of heaven, eh, I mean Versailles, was good enough for now. It felt good to break a sweat when not simply walking up a hill.

After walking down and back to the Chateau entrance, I turned towards my church building and decided to tour the cute city of Versailles and all of it's little markets and storefronts. Such a nice little stroll around town, stopping to buy an almond croissant of course, and enjoying the views.

 "Eyes off my croissant amandeu, you crazy Pompadou."

 First (and only) food truck I've seen in Paris!

 I biked home for lunch and then off to pick up the kids.
Shocking, the kids were like little angels...until we got home to their parents. But whatever, we killed a ton of time at the park. Woohoo! Then for dinner, we made Croque Monsieur: a french style grilled cheese and ham sandwich. Croque Madame if you top it with a fried egg. Yum!

 Random pony outside their school...

“Oh, London is a man's town, there's power in the air;
And Paris is a woman's town, with flowers in her hair;
And it's sweet to dream in Venice, and it's great to study Rome;
But when it comes to living, there is no place like home.”
