Friday, Friday, Wahoo!

~~~Celebrating my first full week living in France~~~
Ajourd'hui c'est vendredi. J'aime bien le vendredi.
The extent of my French about "Fridays". Today I decided to take a day and just chill. Chillin' to the max. I got my laptop hooked up to French Netflix (a new thing in France) and parked my tired little butt on the couch upstairs. Watched an episode of Sherlock, took a nap, then watched The Help. I decided to turn it on to English with French subtitles, just for some added brain stimulation. May seem like a waste of a day when you live a straight shot from Paris, but it was far from a waste for this exhausted nanny.
This morning was rough though. Waking up the kids was great but then after that, well, ya I'll spare you the details. It's Friday, I'll forget the morning and enjoy it.
I've been bummin' it all day and it feels great. Yesterday, I think I enjoyed too much baguette and Nutella so I've been trying to hold off from entering the kitchen; haven't done nearly as much walking today as I did yesterday. In fact, I got quite turned around yesterday after having trekked through Paris near the Champs Elysses, I attempted to make a solo trip home because of my screaming hip flexor, and a few metros, crowded busses, long waits, and like 5 miles of walking, I found home. But then like an hour later I had to pick the kids up from school. Gosh.
Thursday before getting lost:
Two other au pairs and I decided to make a day of it and go see what Versailles was like, but having gotten on the bus going in the wrong direction, we just ended up going towards Paris instead. A stop at Trocadero, a snack at a cute Parisian cafe, and then a gander under the Arc de Triumph, it turned out to be a nice day. My friends showed me something that made the foodie in me cry with joy: Croque Madame/Monsieur. A grilled cheese with ham and a fried egg on top. Served next to realfrench fries. OMGoodness. Fried goodness! I tried a bite of my friends yesterday and that was enough to have me craving it all day today! I really need to lay off the bread though... And a glass of Orangina, a sparkling orange juice cost me 5 Euros. Excuse-moi?! Never doing that again!
** Do you see how tiny the people are at the base of the arc? These monuments in Paris are extremely, EXTREMELY huge! Nothing shy of impressive architecture and design. So big!
When I picked up the kids from school, we went straight to the park. I LOVE THE PARK. An hour of sitting and the kids get to run like crazy. I promise I'm not usually this lazy! Or at least I hope I'm not. I'm going to find those running trails across the street tonight. I need to!
 Pigeons kept flocking to me at the park. Thankfully, I didn't become a target for their poop!
“Oh, London is a man's town, there's power in the air;
And Paris is a woman's town, with flowers in her hair;
And it's sweet to dream in Venice, and it's great to study Rome;
But when it comes to living, there is no place like home.”
Henry van Dyke
