Care Package Gouters

Honestly, I hate to label this post as "helping the homeless" because I really did not change anyone's life or, quite frankly, help them in a significant way. I've had the thought to put together some lunches for the homeless that are all over Paris' streets and finally, with the help of Aubrey, we did it.

While at Auchan, we decided on getting some Pain au chocolat, juice boxes, and granola bars to put in a bag and distribute that day. We were both so exhausted that day, the last thing we wanted to do was go out and trek through Paris. And to be honest, homeless people kind of scare me just because I'm not sure what they're thinking/capable of and whether they are mentally stable. I hope that doesn't bring judgement upon me but it's true.

As we went out, of course, we couldn't find very many people to hand out our food bags to. We went through so many metros and walked around so many streets, our feet were about to fall off by the end of that charade. Alas, we handed out all except one bag which I took to Versailles with me the next day and gave away. I wasn't out to get anything back from those people I saw in need but it's a little disconcerting when you give someone a gift and either they refuse or they take it like they don't even want it. I know for a fact some of those people are just out there for money, not food. Some didn't say thank you but that's okay because some people were so grateful and so happy that everything was worth it in that moment.

I may not be able to physically do a lot since I have no money and little time, but seriously, I love serving and doing what I can. Literally nothing on this planet rewards you more than service. As I captioned a photo, "With all the refugees in Europe who are in need, we can't always look too far outside of our own cities".

....
And then I went and got a gluten free crepe because it was a loooong day.

“Oh, London is a man's town, there's power in the air;
And Paris is a woman's town, with flowers in her hair;
And it's sweet to dream in Venice, and it's great to study Rome;
But when it comes to living, there is no place like home.”
