Chandeleur

Aka- National Crepe day in France!

The real holiday is called "Chandeleur" meaning that the French are celebrating the end of winter and the return of "light". It is 40 days after Christmas and it holds some religious meaning....but, ya know, as most holidays have evolved, they now mean something totally different. For this one, it's the day to eat crepes!

I was super pumped for this day. I just love crepes. So much. I could write a song about how much I love crepes. A poem, even! You can fill them with anything you want. Make them into a dinner food. Eat them for dessert. Gouter time with them! I just love them. And their thin and eggy and I just love thin, eggy stuff.

Well, after school, Alex and Delphine ate their ready-made crepes and I whipped up a batter of some gluten-free ones. What a great gouter. Delphine and Alex prepared a batch for dinner and practiced their flipping skills. Impressive! (There were no serious injuries. Just funny faces)

For dinner, it was the same thing! Yesssssss. Put some cheese, some, ham, and a n egg right on top and viola! Dinner. And then for dessert? We pulled out the Nutella, the confiture, the yummy Roux Graeffe sucre, and some lemon curd. I was so stuffed I could hardly move! They were all making jokes saying that "eating crepes for snack, dinner, and dessert requires special French training and French genetics". I believe it.

“Oh, London is a man's town, there's power in the air;
And Paris is a woman's town, with flowers in her hair;
And it's sweet to dream in Venice, and it's great to study Rome;
But when it comes to living, there is no place like home.”
