Since the snow levels in the Alps suck, I opted out of going to the Alps with my host family and decided to spend the week in Paris.
First great reason was so that I could spend P-day with the Soeur Missionaries! Every time I'm with them, I swear, I let all my problems out and they make me feel a million times better. Soeur Walton and Soeur Wooley are basically the greatest people I've ever met.
They had a mini missionary with them all week so we got to hang out together as well. Soeur Whitney R... (I forgot her last name!) She was a crack up! Definitely grateful I could practice my French with her, although, the first thing she said to me had my brain going ALERT! ALERT! What the heck did she say? I get so nervous speaking sometimes! Alors, ca va. J'essaye.
We walked around Rue de Rivoli looking for Soeur Walton's favorite clothing store and tried on many hats and scarves that were "tres classe" and not buying clothes that were "c'est amish".
On our way out past Hotel De Ville, I informed the Soeurs that all of the little carousels on the sidewalks were free! Of course, we had to stop and ride one! First carousel in Paris was as magical as it sounds. The Soeurs, though, oh my goodness. They were on cloud 9! Not only are they the coolest sister missionaries, but they are so cute together. Wild and free and adorable and like best friend sisters! Both extremely bubbly and sweeter than sugar but as real as it gets. They're just really cool.
Now that we were off the carousel and the magic of the ride was wearing off, we found ourselves running after gigantic bubbles and leaping around the courtyard in front of Hotel de Ville as a homeless man made everyone smile as he filled the sky with bubbles. Soeur Walton was leaping and prancing around trying to pop bubbles and having a ball. SO fun!
Well, next stop was a photo session on the bridge looking towards Ile-St-Louis because the weather was extremely beautiful and Paris was looking mighty fine that day.
The Soeurs were so excited to show me "the missionary spot" to eat because 1) it is super delicious and 2) it is super cheap! If you're ever in Paris and find yourself wanting some good old fashioned Parisian carbs, go here. Creperie Genia. It's in the Saint-Michel area- My favorite part of Paris! For 4.50 euros, you get a foot-long baguette panini, a drink (try the 7-Up Mojito!), and then a Nutella crepe for the last round. OMG. How did I not know this place existed?!
*Funny story though- One of my first times exploring Saint-Michel, I saw a group of missionaries at this place and got uber excited and said hello to them like I was seeing celebrities. I just love missionaries. The memory was like a deja-vu scenario where it just clicked and it was crazy because I seriously relived that moment for a second. A day I completely forgot about just flooded back to me and I hope this blog will do that for me again in about 5 years. It was a sunny day in Paris, warm, walking around with my striped t-shirt on and Taaluma backpack, drooling over all of the food windows. It was a great day!
Back to the soeurs... We went up the stairs and dined on delicious carbs and looked at al of the pictures that we took that day from the carousel to the bubbles in front of Hotel de Ville, to the bridge. I was in missionary heaven! A great, great way to start off my week of relaxing and being completely free to do whatever I want. Yay!

“Oh, London is a man's town, there's power in the air;
And Paris is a woman's town, with flowers in her hair;
And it's sweet to dream in Venice, and it's great to study Rome;
But when it comes to living, there is no place like home.”
