You know you're moving up in life when you spend a New Years NOT at a church dance. Two months to 19!!
After an episode of messaging and money transfers, I finally got the "in" to the rendez-vous at the Mission President's house, compliments of his son David Babin.
A very, very chill party with a lot of French people conversing with each other and us Americans chillin' in the corner. Not as bad as it sounds, but these are the moments I wish I could speak French like a Parisian!!
Everyone's 15 euros paid for a pretty cheap meal to be honest, but whatever, it was a fun night!
*Side note- Foie gras is okay...Don't think about the fact that it is exploded goose/duck liver...Aloha described it as expensive cat food...Can't argue with that!
I think the French YSA are finally warming up to us Americans who are not BYU students on exchange for a few months. We're in for the long haul! I love Abish and her sister, Aloha. Laura the Sylvanian is adorable, hilarious, and so nice it feels like I've known her long before now. (I think Emily and I have successfully convinced her to try out being a spy for the FBI). Emily and David had a mad round of Friends quoting battle that was hilarious and made me wish I knew what the heck they were talking about. David the dark-haired, Frenchman who currently lives in Sweden was as fine as they come. Seriously. Anna, the dancer from North Carolina, brought her brother Colt who had a great time chattin' it up with two drunk guys on the RER about rock bands and Mac Miller. I suck at Speed Jungle, the French game with an English title.
We rang in the new year with popping bottles of fake champagne and eating huge brownies and chocolate while giving bises to everyone and wishing bonne annee!
I had fun getting ready....A little heavy on the selfies? Peut-etre.
I made it home way into the early morning hours and was so awake that I couldn't fall asleep! I think I had dancing energy that was not tapped into for the first time ever.
And now I am living vicariously through Jaycee's PERFECT New Years plans in Utah with...well, ya know the story :) Now if only she'd wake up and text me all about it!!!
