Saturday Night Seulement en Francais

So, I graciously agreed to babysit my 5 year old on Saturday night while the parents and two oldest kids went out to a movie. They went to see Spectre, the movie that I got halfway through before terrorists went haywire on my city. (A little bitter still, ok?)

Well, I got home to babysit and my host mom starts trying to coax out an idea that my 5 year old came up with. I thought he was going to say something nice about the fact that we just collected food for the food bank, but turns out, he decided that while I am babysitting him, we can only speak in French! I was actually pretty excited to get in some much needed practice, but then again I was thinking, "well. This is going to be a quiet night..."

The Consequences included:
Speak in English once- no dessert
Speak in English twice- no movie
Speak in English three times- no nothing and just straight to bed

Was he really this creative on his own? Did he decide this so I couldn't tell him what to do because I literally don't now how to? Sneaky little guy....

Well, the night was a success for me! He, however, kept forgetting to speak to me in French. I pose a question like, "Est-ce que c'est la Paddington?" and he would say, "'Ya'. I mean 'Yes'. I mean 'Oui'."

I could've deprived him of dessert but I'm a nice babysitter :) And I just scored a night of some great practice because, heaven knows, kids are the best teachers.

“Oh, London is a man's town, there's power in the air;
And Paris is a woman's town, with flowers in her hair;
And it's sweet to dream in Venice, and it's great to study Rome;
But when it comes to living, there is no place like home.”
